Look After You - The Fray

There now, steady love
So few come and don't go
Will you won't you, be the one I always know
When I'm losing my control, the city spins around
You're the only one who knows, you slow it down

All Around Me - Flyleaf

My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my finger tips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you
This fire rising through my being
Burning, I'm not used to seeing you

--

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding onto what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

--

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I began to fade
Into our secret place
The music makes me sway
The angels singing say "We are alone with you"
I am alone and they are too with you

Vocabulary

Moroi - Moroi are mortal, living vampires—born, not made. Physically, they are tall and have very pale skin, the kind of skin that blushes and burns easily. Since they are vampires, they must drink blood daily to keep up their strength but require normal food as well.

While Moroi can withstand sunlight, it weakens them, and they must limit their exposure. Because of this, their schedules are usually opposite to the human world—for example, midnight would be noon to a Moroi.

Moroi have superhuman sight, smell, and hearing and can wield elemental magic. Moroi view this magic as a gift and part of their souls that connects them to the world. As such, they believe that it should be used peacefully. There was a time when Moroi used their magic more openly, for defense, to avert natural disasters, and to help with food and water production. But now, rules surrounding their magic are strictly enforced to help keep their existence a secret.

Strigoi - If Moroi are the living, peaceful, mortal vampires, Strigoi are the undead, evil, immortal kind and are completely unable to withstand sunlight.

Strigoi are driven by their desire for blood—and while, yeah, they like human blood, it’s Moroi blood that’s their favorite kind. It will make them stronger and harder to destroy.

Apart from the red rings around their pupils and their chalky white skin, it’s difficult to tell Strigoi are undead since they appear to talk and walk the same as they did before their transformation. If they were Moroi before being “awakened,” which is the Strigoi term for being turned—rather appropriate since they no longer require sleep—they lose their connection to elemental magic. They also lose their auras, as only the living have auras, and are unable to enter holy ground.

Strigoi have better strength, reflexes, and senses than dhampirs and are almost impossible to kill. While a Strigoi’s power and strength increases with age, they rarely live together and frequently turn on each other when in groups.

  • How Strigoi are created

By Force - Humans, dhampirs, or Moroi can forcibly be turned Strigoi after a single bite if they drink (voluntarily or by force) the Strigoi’s blood in return.

By Choice - Moroi tempted by immortality could become Strigoi by purposely killing another person while feeding. This is considered dark and twisted, the greatest of all sins against Moroi life and nature itself.

  • How Strigoi can be killed

Silver Stakes - Silver stakes are a guardian’s deadliest weapon. To forge a silver stake, Moroi must charm it with magic from each of the four main elements. Stabbing a Strigoi through the heart with a silver stake means instant death. HOWEVER, should the stake be charmed with a spirit user’s healing magic and be wielded by the spirit user him- or herself, the Strigoi will be restored to their former Moroi state.

Decapitation - To cut off a Strigoi’s head (or anyone else’s, for that matter) will result in death.

Fire - Lighting Strigoi on fire (via fire-magic or flame thrower, to name just a couple of options) is an effective way to destroy them.

Dhampir - Dhampirs were originally the offspring of Moroi and human couplings, but since vampires retreated from the human world, they are now a mix of Moroi and dhampir—a mix that will still produce a half-human/half-Moroi dhampir. Dhampirs are unable to reproduce with each other and need Moroi in order to have children.

Dhampirs get strength and endurance from their human side and enhanced senses and fast reflexes from their Moroi side. Dhampirs can’t work magic like a full Moroi, but they’re also free from certain Moroi constraints—like needing blood and being easily damaged by sunlight.

Moroi men seek out dhampir women for sex, but it’s extremely rare—practically unheard of—for there to be a more serious relationship between the two. Most Moroi prefer to marry their own kind to keep their bloodlines pure. A dhampir woman who lets Moroi men drink blood while having sex with them is called a blood whore.

  • Guardians With the mix of human and Moroi traits, dhampirs make the ultimate bodyguards. Many train to become guardians to protect Moroi from the threat of Strigoi.

Dhampir women often become single mothers, because Moroi men relish the freedom to have flings with them—without a real possibility of a lasting relationship. These women often choose to leave guardian training to raise their children, making female guardians rare.

Guardians are extremely serious about their jobs, in part because they need the Moroi race to survive so they’re able to have children. In fact, the guardian mantra when it comes to protecting Moroi is “they come first.” These are words many a guardian has lived and died for.

Dhampirs who do not complete their training do not receive their promise mark. Those who still kill Strigoi as a vigilante or hire themselves out as freelance bodyguards are deemed “unpromised.” These are dhampirs who are rebels by nature or those who are actively against the enforced social structure of the Moroi world, which to many means that dhampirs are treated like second-class citizens.

Abilities

Lissa has quite a few abilities that make her unique to some of the vampires in Teleios. Here is a mention of a few of them, below.

Animals: Often times animals are drawn to Lissa, as they are with most Moroi.

Senses: As a Moroi, Lissa has heightened senses of smell, hearing, and sight. This is something that Moroi pass on to their Dhampir kin.

Elemental Magic - While all Moroi have a low-level ability over all four (main) elements, in their teens they begin to specialize in one element in particular. It has long been forbidden to use this magic in anything but a peaceful manner, although some Moroi do begin to question this stance when it comes to fighting back against Strigoi.

  • Spirit - Spirit users need to pull their own magic from their own essence rather than the world around them, which makes the power taxing both physically and mentally. Using Spirit can often lead to insanity and Spirit users develop different ways to cope with the aftereffects of their magic. For example: projecting dark moods onto an individual with whom one has bonded, self medicating or turning into a Strigoi.

Among other abilities, Spirit users can heal plants and animals, dream walk, see auras, and compel others with great intensity. In fact their compulsion abilities are so strong that they can make others experience powerful hallucinations through super compulsion. A spirit user can also create healing charms, including a silver stake that, when wielded it's creator, can restore a Strigoi to their former life. Most of all, Spirit users can bring someone who has recently died back to life, thereby making that person "shadow kissed" and bound to the spirit user.

Sexuality

Just a heads up that Lissa is very much taken in Canon so the odds of her doing anything in this category with someone other than Christian are slim. But all the same that is what memes are for, I guess. That said, she is straight so there will also be no likelihood of her ever having relations with a woman.

I'm more than fine with language and it's pretty hard to find something I won't do. Please note that Lissa is a vampire but again, it would take a lot for her to even bite someone during sex since that is considered really gross in her culture and usually that sort of thing with Chrstian specifically would be kind of gross anyway since Moroi do not taste good to each other.

No Nos are basically beastiality, toilet things, excessive bodily harm, and incest.

Fade to black is okay as well

Other

Hug/Kiss/Touching/etc. Go for it but mind you she won't likely kiss anyone willingly but Christian unless there is CR build up.

Fighting Lissa sucks at it for the most part but please try not to godmod fights if you go in knowing she sucks. I'd like to at least be able to play it out.

Maiming Good luck doing that without a very angry dhampir on your butt - I mean, yes maiming is fine but lets keep it low key, okay? Maybe limit too much organ removal and it has to be in an environment where she would revive before I even think about it. Perma-death is a no.

Mind Reading/Control You are welcome to do mind reading but please only do it if it's in a situation where you are actually reading her thoughts and not about to use my brackets to influence your tags. Lissa also comes with the ability to use Compulsion and I have posted an opt out piece below to those interested in opting out of her using compulsion on them at some point as that is her strongest ability after healing. Just copy the form and reply here with it!

Note that I will not be using this in games like [community profile] teleios where compulsion would only up her debt, but if it's an emergency and she has to use this, that is what this opt out post is for. (I don't mind upping her debt lol)

Non Con Not a huge fan of it but know that there will be IC consequences. Please talk with me at length about this sort of thing. However I am alright with Dub Con if played out right.

Threadjacking Is totally fine if you ask my permission and that of the other party involved in the thread, unless it has a [Closed] or private; in it.

Canon Spoilers Please discuss with me before doing this.

Fourthwalling No thanks, unless it's a fourth wall event. Lissa would think you're nuts anyway.

    Canon Character Section:
History: Wiki link here, here and here
Personality: When we first meet Vasilisa, she has been on the run from her school, St. Vladmir's Academy, for two years, having lost her family in a car accident a year prior to that. Her powers have begun to surface more fully, after a year of increasing paranoia and a continued lack of awareness or understanding of these abilities. Her only comfort and means of survival is her friend and pseudo-guardian, Rose Hathaway. Lissa shows early on that she has somewhat a dependent and insecure personality, not surprising given the trauma she's been through having lost her family while still a young teenager. Though her choice to leave school is reckless, she does so with the faith that she and Rose can make it worse. This venture would not have happened were it not for increased paranoia brought on by her developing magical abilities.

Lissa is often calm and collected on the surface but peeking into her mind via Rose' bond with her gives showcases of a girl who is very fragile and deeply troubled. She is soft spoken and a lover of animals. Any sort of blood or violence makes her uncomfortable. She has a sense of duty to her status as a Moroi and more importantly to her family. With her brother's passing and that of her parents, she feels it is her place to take on the position in society that her brother once held with the other students of St. Vladmir's Academy. To cope with the stress of this position, she resorts to self harm, a side effect of her ability to manipulate her element, Spirit. This is emotional vulnerability is something all Spirit users possess, dating back to St. Vladmir himself. Lissa would have most likely succumbed to the effects were it not for her bond with Rose. It is more than just an emotional bond. When the accident that killed Vasilisa's family happened it also killed Rose. Lissa unconsciously reached out to Rose in the chaos and her magic healed her though it did not heal her family. This causes the unwanted result of Rose becoming Shadow Kissed and absorbing all of Lissa's negative energy. Whenever she feels overwhelming anger or sadness, Rose, who is already becoming aware of it due to Lissa's dip in mood, will intentionally take it away from her.

Lissa has a religious background that most Moroi also have, attending mass at the Russian Orthodox Church provided by St Vladmir's Academy. For her, religion is the foundation of her beliefs. All Moroi have it drilled into them that magic is to be used for the earth and not for personal gain, such as self defense. They also learn not to feed upon humans with the intent to kill, something their Strigoi cousins do frequently. Vasilisa does however commit various acts such as premarital sex (previously with other boys but more currently with Christian). Lissa retreats to the chapel when mass is not in session and no other priests or other staff around to just sit by a window, enjoying the sunlight and the silence. She often needs this down time to calm the emotional turmoil brought upon her by being a royal and the last of her line. She also retreats to the chapel with Christian to spend time with him. Rose calls it their "love nest" and that is not very far off because they often times will fool around up in the attic with one another.

While Christian and Lissa have their difficulties, he is to her like Dimitri is to Rose. He is that person that she cannot seem to find herself without, even when they have disagreements. Lissa has always been easily able to read people, but with him it seems to be an uncanny ability. Previously, Rose had been the only one able to calm the storm inside Lissa's mind but Christian, while not able to use compulsion the way Lissa is capable of, is able to keep her at ease when Rose is not present to do so. Christian is the type of person who calls Lissa out when she is in the wrong and when she needs a firm shake and a shove in the right direction. He also does not take anything she might do to him without bringing about consequences. At Lissa's current canon point they have been having issues but at the end of the day the two do still love one another at their core.

As a Moroi and a princess as well as the last of her line, Lissa is expected to act with the utmost propriety and grace. This is something that is not usually difficult for her to do as Lissa is often very polite even when in a situation where someone else might run their mouth off. She is not the best at handling criticism or pressures but does so with as much grace outwardly as she can while inside her mind and heart are constantly in turmoil. It is in moments like these when she will either close in upon herself or rely on her friends. Often times Rose will feel the effects and immediately come to her side, something Lissa unconsciously relies upon.

If there is one thing Lissa cannot stand it is being perceived as fake or as just another royal. She longs more than anything to be seen for who she is and not for her status in the social climbing ladder. During the two years she and Rose were on the run from the school, she experienced this anonymity briefly. Despite enjoying that, she found herself missing things about her life as a Moroi, namely the church and some of the comforts that come with being protected by a full building of Dhamphir warriors. Lissa can be a bit pampered but she is certainly not selfish and will always stretch a hand to a person in need, even if they are the most cruel to her - save for Victor Dashkov whom she fears for his manipulation of her in an attempt to keep her abilities for himself.

Lissa eventually finds another Spirit user, something she thought was never to be, like herself in Adrian Ivashkov. She feels like she has a lot to learn from him and becomes more excited and open about her gifts as a result of their meeting. While her abilities manifested differently, they are the same at their base. She longs to be able to control her magic the way he has, and often comments in canon about all the different abilities that manifest in Spirit users that Rose meets throughout the series. Adrian becomes one of her closest friends along with Rose and Dimitri.

There are glimpses of a fierceness in her that are only seen when she's angry, these instances rare in themselves. The only times this progresses farther from irritation and something more sinister are times when she is confronted with a situation where someone intends to harm her. This is caused by the trauma brought about from torture inflicted upon her by Victor Dashkov. She later willingly inflicts pain upon another person for trying to hurt her and Rose, giving him halucinations. This ability is so dark and sinister that when Rose absorbs the darkness it creates out of Lissa it causes her to go into a violent rage. She also shows glimpses of possessiveness, such as when Rose chooses Dimitri over her. It is after this incident that Lissa realizes the extent that she too would go to help someone she loved, in Rose's shoes.

In relation to Rose herself, she is even willing to keep her from reaching into their bond, finding things she means to keep from her, if it means protecting her. She's made it known more than once that she dislikes Rose being able to reach into her mind and yet there have been occasions where she will let her reach into their bond if she needs her there in spirit to be a moral support or if she wants her to witness a situation that could affect her. This takes a certain amount of skill and cunning on Vasilisa's part.

Lissa is a protective person and hates to trouble others. Be it when she is on the run with Rose and feeding from her sparingly purposefully to keep her friend from being ill all the time and able to be in top guardian form or to keep Christian from knowing she purposefully harmed herself when they first began to get to know one another. He is quick to pick up on how reckless she really is, not unlike Rose. Over time she learns how much Rose sacrifices for her and how sometimes she needs to do the same, whether Rose likes it or not.

Lissa is terrified of Strigoi, like every other Moroi save for few like Tasha and Christian Ozera who feel confident enough to take them on, but is more than willing to put herself at risk for her friends. This is the case with Rose and Dimitri. She knows what Dimitri means to Rose and she knows what he means to herself. Dimitri is someone Lissa views as a wiser and older person, someone who has put his life before hers countless times and has helped Rose find love that she herself experiences with Christian. That is not to say she's not willing to call her friend out when she is not giving a fair chance to other men who are not Dimitri. When he becomes a Strigoi, not long before Lissa's canon point, she is very much terrified of him and for him but also knows what needs to be done and tries to find the strength to do it. Practicing her charm ability is imperative once she realizes it could save him. When this comes to pass, beyond Lissa's canon point, she develops a severe protectiveness over him, angered by the Council's unwillingness to see that he has returned to his Dhampir state. This even goes so far as for her to vehemently chastise Rose several times when she feels she's toed a line with relation to his precarious position in Court.

As time progresses, Lissa's shyness still sticks but she begins developing more confidence in herself, capable of going toe to toe with political figures and other adult Moroi about her beliefs - that Moroi and Dhamphir should be able to fight together if they choose, that the old ways are not enough anymore with so many Strigoi about. She finds herself shaken from time to time, particularly when revelations about her brother's character and later her father's come about, though she does not know it yet at her canon point. She still has faith in her friends and in their combined strength even when odds seem against them. She also finds the strength to stand on her own when she needs to. She grows into a strong willed and powerful political figure, taking Queen Tatiana's place when she is assassinated. This could not have been done without Rose discovering the skeletons lurking in the closet of the Dragomir family. While there is shock and hurt over things, she still takes up her mantle as best she can and with Christian at her side.

For Vasilisa, being stuck in a place like Teleios where there is sunlight all the time and she is without feeders and the ability to use her magic could cause some anxiety but she would be able to adapt to the blood bags and to other aspects. It is even more helpful that she has friends like Rose and Adrian around but she is not without her charms that she wouldn't be able to find allies in a pinch. She would most definitely find some of her crimes ridiculous and argue that they were necessary at the time (committing fraud via compulsion especially) to ensure her and Rose's continued survival.

Powers/Abilities: Lissa is a Vampire with several of the stereotypical weaknesses that comes with the territory. Sunlight is the most prevalent weakness she possesses as she can only be in direct sunlight for a short amount of time before it wears her out. She is not terribly strong physically but what she lacks in normal physical strength she makes up for in cunning and other forms of strength. Lissa possesses magical abilities from her Moroi heiritage. While most Moroi develop an affinity with the four elements (earth, air, fire and water), there is a fifth element that they can develop an affinity with - Spirit. It was previously thought that Moroi who specialize in this element just did not specialize in anything when in reality the mental side effects that come from using Spirit were not of their own making but that of the use of their element.

Spirit takes a toll mentally on the user, causing a range of mental problems for the Moroi. It also brings about amazing gifts. Lissa herself specialized with the ability to heal injuries and resurrect the dead early on. She later develops the ability to see auras and is attempting to learn to charm silver objects with Spirit effects (healing, compulsion, illusionary magic etc) at her canon point, though she is not very skilled at it just yet. She is also incredibly skilled at the use of compulsion and while most Moroi do not develop this basic skill very much, her prowess is to the point of being able to compel Dhampir and other Moroi which is previously unheard of. Her compulsion also carries a dangerous side to it as she can make a person see scary things as well as innocent things or believe they are seeing it at least. She also develops the ability to walk dreams like Adrian, later on beyond her canon point. This takes a serious toll on Lissa's mental state more than anything as it requires such negative thought for her to willingly cause harm to another person, even emotionally.

Were it not for Rose being present in her life as her Shadow Kissed partner, she would very well have gone mad like so many other Spirit users. With Rose around to take in all of the negativity from Lissa, it slows the process down and it has been suggested that she in turn can heal the darkness back out of Rose if she wishes.

    Appearance: PB - Elisabeth Harnois

Vasilisa is described as having pale skin, pale jade green eyes and blonde hair. She also has a petite frame, a slim body, and is a bit shorter than Rose. She does not possess voluptuous curves, instead having a small chest and hips. Often times her clothing consists of casual wear with colors and frills to it. She wears makeup and puts time into her appearance to look her best even when she is not appeasing to the culture of Royals. When at Court or other formal places usually she will wear anything ranging from a blouse and slacks to a full blown gown depending on what the occasion calls for.

Hearing what Strigoi were like in books and from what Rose had told her was one thing. Coming face to face with the reality of it was another. They'd gone to such lengths to figure out how they could save Dimitri. She owed it to Rose after saying no last time, after leaving her to figure things out on her own. She'd felt abandoned before but some part of her still questioned whether she had been the one who had been abandoned or if it had been Rose. Now they were both going to die together it seemed. They'd come all this way, Lissa stomaching being around Victor Dashkov only to become intrigued by his brother's gifts as a spirit user. Now they were surrounded by Strigoi. Their blood red eyes caught her and Rose's scream to stop had resounded in her ears for a few more seconds before she finally snapped to attention.

Everything had been a blur of panic and fear, Lissa's green eyes wide as she tried to scramble for what to do. Rose had said something Get out but she hadn't heard it over the haze of her own fear until she had said her name. Yet she couldn't move, couldn't breathe. All she could see were Dimitri's brown eyes ringed with red. How could this be happening? What could she do? She wanted Robert's words about Spirit infused within stakes to be true but how could she possibly face off against him? No, she couldn't think like that. She would do whatever it took to help him, whether Rose liked her being that close to a Strigoi or not. He was not only the man her best friend loved but truthfully Lissa loved him too. He was a good person and a good friend. He was a good friend, she reminded herself. Not any more and definitely not with the way he was attacking Rose like that. It took a lot for her to tear her attention away from him and Rose, pushing on the exit door with Adrian. The needed to leave now.

The screaming noise of the alarm was hell on Lissa's ears and, for several minutes after she'd pushed the door open, she could still hear the ringing noise it left behind. She was almost afraid to look back, praying Eddie and Rose were okay and that no Strigoi would get past them. She knew there was a low chance of it but it still scared her out of her mind to think about. All she could see were those red rimmed eyes, the way Dimitri smiled like something straight out of Hell itself. How could she possibly save Dimitri from that? If Rose had trouble with him there was no way she could fight him and yet seeing what he'd become pushed her determination on, even if the thought terrified her. Pressed against a wall, she stood with Adrian while they waited for Rose and Eddie. That was when she realized it.

"Victor and Robert are gone-!!" Looking around it slowly started to sink in. Oh, great. Rose was going to be angry. She was upset over losing Robert but not so much Victor. She could do without seeing him for the next century. What were they going to do now? There was no sign of them and they could only stay put and wait for Rose and Eddie to come back. There was nothing to be done about it.
